WOAHHHHH OK SO I JUST WATCHED THE SNOWTOWN MURDERS AND I HAVE BEEN MEANING TO FOR A WHILE NOW BUT I SHOULD NOT HAVE WATCHED IT TONIGHT I GOT THE SUPER HEEBIE JEEBIES. but it was so good. like, the heebie jeebies as in “you can tell it was a good movie” way because it spooked me enough. it wasn’t a HORROR film, so not too much gore really (most of the killings were just implied) but it was a classic suspense movie and it was like, really well done. the actors were A+ too. now i’m gonna go to sleep and pray i don’t have nightmares ahdkjgdh

wow it’s so bad. i had to write up a concept paragraph for it. here u go:

This is my final composition for my beginning year of computer graphics. Now, being the ambitious student that I am, my original idea was going to be a visual joke based on some loosely worded scientific theory. I had to change it at the last minute, though; my tablet failed to connect properly and while I await its repair, I decided copping out and scanning in an old picture I drew from a few months ago. It’s not exactly inspirational or anything, but it does represent a few things I find important. In Photoshop, I added filters to the background for texture and added color to a few places on the canvas that I thought needed some focus from the rest of the piece. There’s the caterpillar at the bottom of the picture, which is a representation of beginnings and inferring a future through metamorphosis. Next, there’s this realistic looking heart that’s behind a rib cage or some kind of barrier thing. Hearts are really weird things in that they are metaphorically used as the most important source of your feelings and in actuality they are the muscles that pump blood through your arteries and veins and keep you alive. So it’s just a cool thing, the heart; the literal one and also the one that people use as a figure of speech when it comes to feelings. Then there’s the broken heart in the water. It’s not a real heart because no one’s being literal when they say “My heart is flooded with emotion,” or “My heart is broken!” Above that, a scene of a night sky is presented. The stars and moon are made up of different religious symbols, because one’s beliefs can be what people use to navigate their journey of life. The bottom left is a hand with a spatter of blood behind it. Obviously referring to the fact that sometimes we can get hurt, but we can pull through, shown by the peaking sun in the far back of the image. Those are just a few quick focus points of the piece that I felt were a good idea to name for this project. This entire image is difficult to describe as something other than the embodiment of my feelings toward things I can never necessarily write out but find more luck in drawing them in some kind of odd collage of sorts. It’s every concept I have trouble explaining to others and even to myself. That is my conceptual design.

ughhhh okay so i finished the big YouTube Comedy Week kickoff live event (i saw the last half of it live last night and just watched the first half now) aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand i have a lot to say about it

okay, okay, i know it was supposed to be showcasing and highlighting some of the bigger names on youtube, but honestly???? it went so downhill so fast. the stand up acts that they had were good at some points but so VASTLY different from one another as far as comedy styles go that it was more a conglomeration of “big youtube names” and less an actual comedy show. every now and then i would say “hey! i like this band! i’m glad they are here!” and “hey! i know this comedian! i’m glad they are here!” but a lot of names i wasn’t aware of prior to the show (probably because they were more from traditional media than new media. i think.) were kind of super, super shitty. skrillex killed it though, i’m glad he was as chill as he was. he genuinely looked like he was having a good time and spoiler alert: he raps with the guys from epic rap battles of history and i thought that was dope of him. but anyway, some others like mainly stand up acts, were boderline misogynistic and racist. and like, literally they go immediately from rhett and link’s style of comedy to some dude who’s entire routine was based around how he has sex when he’s under the influence of different drugs and man, i don’t know, i just didn’t think it transitioned well between acts at all. speaking of transitions, there were a lot of transitional errors. they were real easy to point out, like, i’ve helped put on public events and shows for a few years now and i’m becoming more aware when flaws or mistakes occur, like when a mic won’t turn on or someone forgets their lines or a band is missing half it’s members like IT’S A LITTLE OBVIOUS AT POINTS. i also would like to know why they picked the announcer they did for the show, which he was good! he was sort of funny and it was good when he laughed at his own jokes. but i want to know exactly why they chose him (i’m not honestly even sure who he was) and not like, one huge star name to headline the whole thing. also grace helbig should have been in the show, and harley should have been given his own window of time to do stuff, not just to get speed roasted with other VOLUNTEERS who DONATED THEIR FREE TIME to help put on the show oh my god that got me so fucking mad. i can’t remember the asshole’s name who “”roasted”“” them, but he was a dick like man these people took a lot of time out of their lives to help this event turn out to be what it was which was mostly shitty but almost okay. and why the fuck did they bring those guys out to talk about red lobster. like, i think it was sort of an advertisement thing, like maybe red lobster sponsored the event or helped it out idk but fuck man is it really worth the money to see Fergie from the black eyed peas come out dressed as a sexy lobster and sing about a seafood chain restaurant. no. so once again, i think honestly that youtube wasted a lot of money on things in this event. youtube wastes money a lot. apparently.

tl;dr - it did not accurately portray or display the professional and genuine comedic quality of youtube. i want that to be perfectly clear. there were a lot of mistakes. it was easy to spot them. Comedy Week may get better and prove to us that it’s actually trying to showcase great underground talent later on, but after the show, i’m left with this feeling that it was mainly developed to make fun of the idea of new media.

so if you’re not up for disappointment, don’t watch it.
